Okay...after reading my thoughts of yesterday, I am thinking I missed a few reasons for the move. So let me list them quickly and then move on.
(1) Housing: so much cheaper to buy what we consider our dream home here in the east.
(2) Money: with a less expensive economy here it is just plain easier to do what we want to do with the money that we have.
(3) Jobs: yeah there were some in BC, even in Port Alberni, but in general, moving meant more opportunities for both of us.
(4) Health: what can I say...mine sucks! After surviving cancer more than once, and now having not 1 but 2 auto immune disorders, it was time to put my health and quality of life first! Now realistically, if it was my only reason for relocating I would be much further south (like say Arizona). But a more relaxed setting, with way less stress was the goal and so far it has been achieved! :)
(5) In-laws: not that my parents or Lorne's are the primary reason for moving, but with us getting married in such a short time, let's just say that their opinions haven't always been positive or reinforcing. So being apart from the whole situation is a good thing in many ways. We needed to be on our own and to be able to live our life the way we wanted to.
(6) Adventure: life is too damn short to be stagnant! What is life without chances, change and adventure? Boring! It's not like there is a rule that we have to stay here if we hate it, so why not give it a shot and try our hand at something new?
Now does that answer the question of "why the maritimes"?
